Besides the stock Toyota-branded KYB-made rear shocks, the only shock absorbers that are typically advertised for the Corolla All-Trac are Gabriels, and Monroe Monromatics and Monroe Sensatracs.  Most shock absorber outlets and auto parts stores only carry the latter, so if one wants the KYB-made ones, then the dealer is the place to go.

However, if you want to put on some better shocks like the legendary KYB GR2s, the claim is that there are none available for the All-Trac.  Check out any online shock store, and Gabriels and Monroes come up but no KYBs, Tokicos, Ranchos, or Bilsteins.  But, given that the drivetrain and rear suspension of the All-Trac was based on that of its predecessor, the 4WD Toyota Tercel (1983-198, you can use the corresponding 1988 Tercel GR2 shock, KYB 343149 instead.  I had a pair of eBay-bought 343149s installed last week and they fit my All-Trac wagon perfectly.  There is less body roll with these new shocks, but since I've only replaced the rear shocks and not the fronts (they don't need replacing now, and I didn't want to buy 4 shocks that wouldn't work), I dont' know how much better things could really be until I get the fronts replaced with GR2 struts.

For a stiffer ride, there is also the KG4762, which fits the rear of the Tercel, and, therefore, I assume it should fit the Corolla All-Trac as well; I haven't tried those yet.

Hey Datsa, did you get much lift with the KYB 343149's?

OR

Do you think it's possible to get more lift out of the stiffer KG4762's?

If so... How much?

I really want to find a safe easy & affordable mod' to raise my suspension.

I'm hoping an extra inch on the wheels themselves, an extra inch on the tyres & a couple of extra inches on the suspension will get my wagon to a better off road height.

Corolla 4wd??? Does such a thing even exist???!

I didn't get any extra life on the 343149's but that's because I wanted to make the car level with the original front shocks.
But apparently they can be adjusted somewhat.  I don't know about the KG4762s.

I tried to order these today but my mechanics part numbers wouldn't bring it up, it brought up something starting with an L4000-xxxx (I forget the number but I'll post it if it fits)

I'm a little nervous about the back, but I'll let you all know how it goes, worst case scenario I order them off the internet and bring them to be installed!

I bought my 343149's off of eBay for $15 for both.  Couldn't go wrong with that purchase. And so far they have held up nicely.

They are indeed KYB 343149's on the rear of this thing! My wagon is now equipped with them as well so the part number is the same for the 1991 Sprinter Carib's!
