One of the things I don't like about the All-Tracs is that they sit a bit too low to the ground for my tastes; I'd prefer it to be a bit higher -- better able to clear terrain, speed bumps, etc. I still have the stock 13" rims, but I wonder if 15" rims are possible. Also, what front shock/strut combination should one get? I found some KYB GR2's that fit the rear, but so far I haven't found any that fit the front, other than Gabriels, Monroes, or Toyota OEM struts.
Any ideas? |

AFAIK, most of the stock '88-96 Corolla rims are 4x100 bolt pattern, which means they're all interchangeable. Question is, will 15" rims/tires fit inside your wheel wells with OEM shocks or not? |

Speaking of suspension...I'm looking to replace the oem struts with some Bilsteins. On their website, there is no specification made as whether all trac or not. As far as struts/shock go, are they interchangeable between front wheel drive and all trac models??? Thanks. |

While searching the world wide web I found an AE95 with white American 'Western - Hurricane' wheels (same as on the general lee in Dukes of Hazard)
Looks alright I rekon.

I'm pretty sure "Kebin's" (australian 4agze alltrac wagon on airbag suspension) is running with 17" wheels The thing is.., what profile tyre you put on the the rim will determine how well it fits inside the wheel well. The other thing is, acceleration power is lost when using a larger overall diameter wheel. |

Not to mention inaccuracy in your speedometer. I'm not sure what size my wheels are, but I believe them to be 15". My speedometer is off by 5mph at 60mph. So when my speedometer reads 60mph, I'm actually travelling at 55mph (as stated by my phone's GPS-based navigation app - I've yet to verify this with my stepdad's GPS unit).
I also don't believe that there would be much difference in the FWD shocks compared to all-trac specific ones besides the weight or whatever. Like how much weight they're designed to hold. Wagons typically have higher rated shocks than their sedan/coupe bretheren, so putting sedan/coupe shocks on might give you a little bit of a drop, and you'd be stressing the shocks past their intended use, so their life span would be much shorter. |

http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.aspThe stock tires on the All-Trac are 185-70-13. Last weekend I finally put my del Sol's "fat fives" on my wagon, so it's sitting a little lower and has a near-perfect rolling radius (195-60-14) to the stock A-T tire size. I've noticed since doing the tire swap that my front brakes have stopped squealing, and the car drives a little faster. The thing with the brake squeal is something I read about, if your tires are too big for the car, it can cause brake problems Only thing I need to do now is decide whether to get rid of the Honda H logos on the center caps I bought a nice set of 15" rims for my Sol, and just ordered the tires earlier today. I had to play around with numbers on that tire calculator to get a tire to match the Sol's rolling radius (195-50-15). |
