So I have another problem.  I've never been able to open the manual transaxle filler plug; it doesn't budge.
If it is a standard bolt, then I assume that it must be turned counterclockwise (to the left) to open it.  I've tried putting on Liquid Wrench and PB Blaster, but it stays stuck.

When I had my clutch worked on, they claimed to have refilled the transaxle; but now there is a leak near where the propeller shaft fits into the transfer extension.  Probably the gasket is leaking, or perhaps the transmission shop that did the clutch work put in too much transaxle fluid, which can cause a gasket leak due to expanding transaxle fluid.

So, either way, I'd like to be able to check the level inside myself, and when I replace the transfer gasket, I'll need to drain and refill the transaxle.

Thanks.

Go back to the garage and tell them they screw the bolt to tight so you can't open it now !

Give them some mess and ask them to unsrcew it !!

Depending the way you manage this with them... it should be free.

HTH

Good luck !

You're talking about the 19mm facing the front of the car right?

Have you tried a breaker bar (or a wrench with a long pipe attached?). Then just pound away with a hammer or your arm, whichever is stronger
