Hey guys I'm probably going to get my exhaust redone (I might try it myself if i can borrow a welder). It is currently completely rusted out and incredibly loud.. I should make a youtube video of how loud it is.. its nuts.
Anyway, I'm planning on doing 2.25" pipe with stock cat and a cheap universal muffler (thrush?). Has anyone had experience as far as how loud this is? I'm sure it will seem whisper quiet compared to how it is right now..
I also really want to do a VW-esque upturn at the end of the pipe. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I can't seem to find pictures online but I've seen them before so i know im not crazy. |

Did you ever redo your exhaust? I'm curious, because my exhaust has some significant rust on the muffler itself; I need to eventually replace it, so I'd like to see what others have done. Also, I wonder if a performance exhaust can be put on to increase horsepower. |

My friend/roommate finally saw my wagon, and he was saying that an exhaust header would probably help get a little more performance out of the engine. I wonder if the guys at TN might know more about aftermarket stuff that would work with our wagons? (Really we need to lasso in more members and get more info here ) |

I agree we need more members. I think part of the problem is the marketing of the vehicle; it was more popular in other countries than in the English-speaking nations. Look at Russia and Japan. Also the name of this site; the All-Trac goes by other names in other parts of the world: Sprinter/Carib, Toyota 4WD Corolla, etc. People who own these other vehicles may not realize that the All-Tracs apply to them. |

Just an update, after having the Resonator cut off of my all trac in favor of a straight pipe I gained approx 70km on this first tank of gas!! If you have a resonator or any funny noises coming from your exhaust, might be worth it to look into. It cost me $100 to have done at a muffler shop, so I'm guessing I could have done it at home for $40 if I knew what I was doing and had a small welder. |

Hey I have a 1988 all-trac ae95 wagon I believe. It has the 16 valve efi engine and when I first drove it it went pretty fast fir an old car. But I recently found my last piece of exhaust has cleanly broken off from that first exhaust box under the car. How would I go about fixing this. Also I believe this problem is the reason for the loud snapping and clicking noise I hear when I accelerate. If u might have any idea on what I'm talking about then feel free to chime in. |

Just do a websearch. 'alltrac extractors' '4afe performance headers' etc. You'll come up with things like this: http://www.auto-exhausts.com/tag/4afe-performance-header/ OR If you're lucky (like I was) pay attention to various corolla forums & you might hear of some second hand ones in a scrap yard.. You'll see in the pics my exhaust manifold was almost broken in two! If you look at the pic of the engine block you can also see 3 of the 4 exhaust ports were leaking fumes - I could actually smell it in the car sometimes - not good. They were difficult to fit, in the end I made a tiny notch in the subframe (viewed from underneath) The guy who had them on the car in the scrap yard must've cut them out of frustration when he was trying to fit them because they were some terrible weld joins on them. I'm planning on removing these again, cut & grind the bad weld & replace it with a bolted exhaust join in case I ever need to do any work in the future. Aside from fitting the header, I changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs & leads, put some injector cleaner through the fuel system along with a high octane additive, pumped up the tyres & adjusted the idle speed a little... My baby was running a good 15% better & still is - it's been about a year now! All easy things to do

But that site has 844 members as of June 12! I had one of these wagons, but it was the 2WD version. Gave it to a friend; shortly thereafter, it was broadsided in an intersection. At least she wasn't hurt in the accident, but the wagon was totaled. |
