Hey everyone, I got a 13" set of factory white 4 bolt rims with my car, but it also came with a set of 15" rims that I think will fit. (Haven't tried, its winter in Canada, you don't play with perfectly good winter tires! haha) Anyone played with their rim/tire sizes at all? |

My wagon came with 15" steelie rims... I think the front right tire rubs against the well when I make a sharp left turn (going in reverse out of the driveway). The previous owner said the guy he bought it from got the rims from a Saturn or something (?). They are the 4x100 bolt pattern, they work, I'm not complaining... I also tried my del Sol's "fat fives" (14" aluminum rims) and they fit just fine. Not hub-centric, like the 15" steelies, but they fit. |

I'm running BMW bottlecaps that I painted bronze with Fuzion HRIs 195/60/14. I have no issues with rubbing or anything like that |

How is your performance with the 15's? I would think they would be too tall for an already under powered engine (assuming you are running a 4AFE). I noticed a difference just changing to winter tires (1/2" taller) from summer rubber. I'm running Dean Wintercat studded for the winter. They perform excellent, even on dry pavement. Pretty loud though! |

I have no idea, since I only have the 15's on my wagon. I didn't think it would make much of a difference...? |

I won't be switching to All Seasons for a couple more months, which is where I'll use those 15" rims. I'll let you know about performance loss, I hope to have a Cold Air Intake on it before that.
I've also got a pair of studded tires going on probably next Monday I'll probably comment on the noise too, but they were cheap and have 90% tread left. =) |

I'm wondering if some alltracs came with 15" wheels. Possibly different gearing to compensate. Mine came with 13s. I doubt it could pull itself up a hill with 15s. Conditions in my area are such that I prefer a little more low end grunt over highway performance. @70mph I'm pulling around 3300rpm. |

LongShadow, did you have to adjust anything to use the 15s? My wagon came with 15s so I have no idea if a previous owner replaced the struts or springs with aftermarket in order to use the 15s. I'm not even sure if that is necessary, since I don't know a lot about tires and rims and such. My wagon does not have the ride height adjustment. |

Longshadow, Sir, that is a beautiful looking Carib. Where did you get it if you don't mind? I'd like to hear some import stories for when I decide its time for a new one! Probably a couple years away but still... Rogue from what I can tell they came with 13" factory. The rims I have on right now are definitely the factory rims, heres a couple pics I took before I replaced the bumper and right lights. They say Toyota on them. Crappy pics of the rims, but its all I've got for now. I'll have better ones when its warm enough to wash it! **Edit** Image hoster removed images, theres another thread called 'Mine Wagon' in Photos if you want to see pics. |

Good point about adjusting tire size. I suppose low profile rubber would work well for summer driving; around here winter driving is more akin to offroadin'! Not exactly good for low profile racing tires. Good link |

Yeah winter here is pretty varied, on the main streets is nice dry pavement, on any of the side streets or alley its massive ruts of ice as hard as concrete and snow as soft as pillows all mixed side by side. It can be pretty hard on the tires, and low profile are a stupid option for winter here, but...summer MAYYYYYBE. I'd rather just run a good solid tire and not give a crap about the speedo as long as the tire doesn't rub! |

I still have the original 13" rims on my A-T. I wanted to get 14" (60R14, perhaps), but I couldn't find any inexpensive rims that I liked. So I ended up getting no-name imported tires on the original rims, which I sanded and spray painted.
I take my car to Mexico regularly so I don't want anything fancy since they would probably be stolen. Interestingly, I recently saw an A-T in Tijuana, while dining at a restaurant -- it was parked in the driveway of the house next to the restaurant, had Baja plates, and was in perfect condition, even had a spoiler. Judging by its molding and accessories it appeared to be either an 88 or 89. |

I found that 195/50/R15's are the same rolling radius as the 13's I have on it now. I'll be purchasing some 15" tires within the next month I think, it appears winter is over...<knock on wood>.
I just had all the steering components redone, it turns quite a bit sharper, after these tires, some intake/exhaust work, I'm going to NEED some new suspension! =D |

Can anyone tell me what 15" wheels might fit my alltrac? I'll be looking in the salvage yard, so should I be looking for only Corolla wagons or possibly other models also? If I can find some nice wheels at the right price I'll get them for summer use. |

If you are in the US, a reasonable option might be to check out America's Tire / Discount Tire. I was ableto get a 14" set with tires and waranty, etc. for a little over a hundred dollars per wheel. Just a thought... |

Maybe look up 4x100 rims online and see what comes up... I believe that's the lug pattern for these Corollas (as well as most Hondas). Might even be some Acuras with 15" steelies if that's what you're looking for, but I don't really know. |

I am not in the US? You guys get cheaper tires and rims, and most parts for that matter, plus lots of you don't have to worry about buying winter tires!
Yeah our bolt pattern is 4x100 for sure, and I agree with Rogue, that is your best bet. Combined with the tire size calculator posted earlier by datsa, you can play around with the values in there and figure out what you need. I just kept changing the tire height/width ratio until I found that 195/50/15 has the same rolling radius as 175/70/R13. =)
Thanks datsa, and good luck hatchy! |

Update: I found a WICKED set of Kumho Ecsta AST 195/50/15's on kijiji for $200, they have less than 1000km on them I can still see the little nubbies! =)
Obviously a bit of overkill for the power this car has, but, nice to have some good sticky tires! My car has 2 catalytic converter's on it so I'm going to "lose" both of them, slap a new muffler and SRI on it, and my mods are done besides suspension! |

I know that I'm late to this "party" but I suggest trying the tire calculator on http://www.TireRack.com. |

Thanks! I do not need to have my car on height adjust to accomidate the 15's. They fit just fine. No mods at all needed. I am in the process of getting my rims sandblasted and powder coated gloss black. I think they are going to look pretty sweet. |

I've been SERIOUSLY considering taking my winter rims to do this. How much does powder coating cost? I can get the sand blasting done for almost nothing. =)
I'm gonna try and get some pics of it this weekend on the 13" rims, and then some new ones later next week on the 15" rims too! |

I have the fortune of working at an aluminum fence manufacturer... I can get stuff powdercoated for free or very cheap. I had my del Sol's rims powdercoated in black... can't do the center caps because they have plastic parts that would melt in the oven during the curing process! But I kind of like the look. LongShadow, I think those rims will look awesome in gloss black! |

Oh man, you might be working for one of our competitors! If you don't mind my asking, what company is it? I'm at Alumi-Guard here in FL. Coming up on being there 3 years. I think the next thing I will ask to have done is a bracket I'm making for my wagon (can't wait to show off that one here), and two valve covers... |

Just make sure the wheel offset works for your vehicle when switching wheel size. Also, there shouldn't be a noticeable change in gearing if you get the correct tire size when changing wheel sizes. I have 15's on my corolla with 205/45 tires. Here's a calculator to make sure your Rolling Radius remains the same. http://www.club80-90syncro.co.uk/Syncro_website/TechnicalPages/TRC%20calculator.htm
Can anyone tell me What IS the rolling radius of the factory wheel? |
| Corolla 4wd??? Does such a thing even exist???! |

The sticker on my door says 185/70 R13 for 1.8, and 165 S R13 for 1.9. But what is the 1.8 and 1.9 referencing? Right now I'm trying to figure out the best fit for my carib. It came with 14 inch rims, and 185/65 R14 tires....but using the tire calculator doesn't match those up with the originals. hmmm... |
