Theres the pics.

I'm gonna keep the steering wheel until I know what my new car comes with, but after that SirRipo has dibs on it. I will likely keep the PIAA lights too, unless someone makes me a good offer.

The stereo headunit is likely up for sale after I test it to see if it works...the dash popped sideways but it didn't seem to damage the deck. Its an Alpine IDA-X305, possibly sell the KTP-445 mini-amp with it too, I think my next setup will be something different, not that I was unhappy with these.

Other than that, I'll be using a "Jack-All" to open up the hood once I'm strong enough to operate the jackall. =) Inside the hood, the o2 sensor is new, same with the MAP sensor (Might keep it, gotta check if its the same part as a 92), plugs and wires are all new, distributor, rotor, cap, P/S pump was barely used for a year, and theres more I'm sure.

WOW.  That is crazy, he must have been flying to have caused that much damage!  I would definitely keep all these pics, as well as any that someone might have taken at the scene, to use in court.  I mean holy mess, the roof caved in from the impact...

Well, I'd be interested in that headlight, it looks OK.  Are you keeping the PIAA bush bar?  On the back, the middle rear brake light cover (inside), if that's OK I'd be interested in that (I don't see the rear door...).  I was going to get that from someone else here but I haven't heard back from him since I sent a PM some days ago.  Also from the rear door, the plastic garnish around the license plate (was also going to get this from someone else here).  Are you going to keep that higher output alternator?

Edit: lol, word filter... "mess" = an expletive

Where are you located again? Also, in addition to the steering wheel, how about that rear wiper arm/motor?

Dylan,

The damage looks horrendous, although I assume that some of it may be due to being cut out of the car by the rescue team.
Now I know why you were hurting so much on your right side; looks like you got a direct hit from that direction.

I PM'd you with some things that I might be able to use since you have a Carib that has features that even North American All-Tracs do not have, although I admit it feels uncomfortable to be taking advantage of your loss.  I am looking into Brett's All-Trac but I don't know all the specs yet.

I'm in Calgary Alberta Canada, and I can ship with UPS, Fedex, Purolator (DHL), or plain ol Canada Post -> USPS depending on what you want.

It will likely be a few more days before I feel like up to turning any wrenches, but I'll try to get in gear soon, I'd like to get as much off this car as you guys want and send it on its way!

SirRipo: The arm and motor looks like it survived, it might be bent though. =(

Datsa: Absolutely no worries about 'taking advantage'. I don't feel taken advantage of, I had the car towed here for this specific purpose! Either you guys take the parts off this car, or it goes to the junkyard with many valuable parts still on it, and *THAT* would be a shame. Like I said, it will be a few days, but after that I'm eager to get some of these parts to you guys, as long as everyone is patient, I have no problems.

The rear storage compartment is all in great shape, with 5.25" pre-cut holes for speakers! =D Someone has to want that!

Well since this is Canada suing is a bit different. I think theres a $10,000 "soft tissue injury" cap, which is what I fall under. If I had broken a pinky or more, that cap is removed, oddly enough.

The law doesn't exactly make sense, and its being fought in court, but I believe the cap stands at this time. I haven't contacted a lawyer YET, because I'm waiting to hear back from my Insurance company in regards to the other guy's actual coverage. He thinks he was covered. His company says he was aware that he was not. My company obviously sides with his company because they are ... Insurance companies! hahaha =)

So, I hear tomorrow or Wednesday about his actual insurance status. If he HAS insurance, my life gets easier from this point on and things will be financially settled swiftly, while I'll be left to heal in the long term properly paid for. If he does NOT have insurance, life gets tricky. I'm already paying a rental out of my pocket for now, medical bills will likely be out of pocket until a lawyer can get a judgement against him, which I believe could be months or years if he fights it somehow.

I'm not really familiar with all this stuff, this is my first major accident, and of course the first one in my circle of friends involving a driver with no insurance. I'm hoping for a swift closure to it all, I've added 'Collision' to my policy, which also would have saved me some headaches in this situation. Its a 'luxury insurance' if you will, but, after these recent events I've stopped viewing it as a luxury and I will likely carry it from now on. Had I had this coverage to begin with, it would be my insurance company's responsibility to get me a rental and then sue him! =)

Sorry for the long message to a short question.
YES, I sure can sue him, and I will obviously win because theres 2+ witnesses, just a matter of how little/much I get and when!

If he doesn't have insurance, the police also go back and write him a new ticket, driving with no insurance here is a MINIMUM $2500 fine, if he has a bad record already (which he does), the judge can increase that fine amount, so this could financially cost him quite dearly, as it should!

I'd also be interested in the light/push bar, but I'll let Rogue have the first shot at it, since he asked first. If you aren't planning on keeping it that is. I was going to mount some lights, I just wasn't sure how/where yet, and that would be a convenient option (that could be adapted to other applications if necessary)

I thought of something else... those vent visors, whatever they're called, that go over the windows.  Not sure how they attach though.

A number of years ago, my dad was involved in a 3-car accident; he was in the middle vehicle.  He was waiting to make a left turn behind a sedan when he was rear-ended by a college student driving a VW Bug.  The impact forced my dad's van into the sedan in front.  Turns out that the lady driving the sedan in front had canceled her insurance a few days before. And the college student who hit my dad's van also did not have insurance. So the lady sued my dad instead of the college student, even though my dad did nothing wrong; he was just idling behind her car until he could make a left turn after she made her left turn.

The judge threw out the case on the grounds that my father was not liable for damage to the lady's car; that was the fault of the college student without insurance.  So two people without insurance, the lady and the college student, had to settle among themselves.  Unfortunately, even after the van was fixed, it never drove right again.

I always drive with insurance even when I drive in Mexico.  U.S. insurance is not recognized in Mexico, so I have to get special Mexican insurance underwritten by a Mexican insurance company.

Are your payments in pesos or dollars? If it's in pesos, I can imagine that's quite nice on the wallet (assuming they don't jack up the prices so it equals out).

Yeah I highly recommend collision coverage here in Canada, especially at the rate of $289/yr or whatever. Thats a steal.

I bet Mexican insurance is cheap, but probably pretty limited, and complicated with their legal system of 'wahts legal?' hahah

So, the headlights on the new carib are different so Rogue will likely get my headlight. There is no bush bar on the new one though, so it looks like I'll probably keep that! Sorry! I *MIGHT* sell those PIAA lights though, I'll let you guys know after... I really like them and they're powerful, but I'm going to get 6" lights I think, those are 4".

Lots of the other car I'll still be willing to sell, but some of the newer parts I've put into it, I'm going to double check on compatability before I sell them! Updates to come, I need a nap, I drove for 6hrs today! But I like the car overall, and I'm excited to get back into an AWD, FWD is annoying. =(

Ooooh, depending on what you would want for them, I call dibs on the lights.

Where did you find the light bar, anyway? I'd really be interested in one, but I don't really have the tools to fabricate one myself.

No worries about the bush bar -- if I was in your situation I would definitely keep it!

Take your time with getting back to us... more important for you to recover right now.  Though I'm sure it hurts to see the old Carib in the alley...

Likely keeping the bar and lights for the time being, but long term I may sell those lights, I want to go bigger! They work great but it gets DARK on mountain roads with no moon.

http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/part_number=PIA5164/353.0 - Those are the lights

I found the bush/light bar on another Carib that was for sale in a town an hour and a half away from here. I wrote the woman about the bar and she let me come take it because she didn't have anyone interested in buying the car yet. It was basically a total luck situation. I tried for a long time to get Mustang Connection to import me one, but they're pretty hard to come by.
If you knew a welder and could bribe some free work out of them, they could construct something nicer, stronger, and bigger in 4hrs work or less.

It does hurt to see the Carib in the alley, and I'm anxious to gut it and have it out of my face too! hahah Especially before summer comes and the birds start occupying the tree above it. All in due time though, another week or two and I'll be ready to crawl around and turn some wrenches and ratchets. Right now I'd end up breaking stuff in myself or the car out of frustration!
