OEM All-Trac clutch, or 4A-GZE clutch?

More of a question for the guys who have thrown in 4A-GEs into their All-Tracs / Sprinter Caribs / etc. But I was wondering if anyone knows which clutch would be best to use with either a stock 4A-GE, or a built up 4A-GE? From what I've heard, the All-Trac's OEM clutch is more heavy duty than the ones used in the FWD 4A-FE powered Corollas. But what about the GZE powered MR2, is that clutch "beefier" than the All-Trac clutch? The diameters and splines are the same, going by Exedy's site.

OEM All-Trac replacement:
http://www.exedyusa.com/oe/16065

OEM GZE replacement:
http://www.exedyusa.com/oe/16075

OEM GE replacement:
http://www.exedyusa.com/oe/16074

Would it even matter for an NA (naturally aspirated) built 4A-GE in the All-Trac? I mean to use anything other than the All-Trac's OEM replacement?

One thing I've found out is that if I want to use the All-Trac's OEM clutch (or the GZE clutch), I will need a GZE flywheel since it has more surface area for those larger clutch discs. Can't use the All-Trac flywheel because it has 6 crankshaft bolt holes, but the GE and GZE flywheels have 8 bolt holes. I won't be using the FE crankshaft, so I need a GE flywheel... but the GE clutch disc splines don't match up with the All-Trac input shaft! OK, have I caused anyone else a headache yet? I'm off to bed...

4A-FE block with 4A-GE head, crank/rods/pistons

So I'm getting set to buy a bigport 4A-GE ("black & red" top I believe) very soon, and was reading up on the AE95 conversion of the GE block (grinding down the side to clear the transfer case). I'm kind of wary about doing that, especially since I had another look at Kebin's pics of the grinding and how the oil pan doesn't seem to be removable after the GE block is bolted to the drivetrain. It's not the end of the world, and if it comes right down to it, I will just grind the GE block and be done with it.

But I've been doing some research into bolting the GE head onto an FE block, along with swapping the GE internals (crank, rods, pistons) and using the GE flywheel (because of the crank, 8 bolt vs FE's 6 bolt). People have turbo'd their 4A-FEs and don't seem to have a problem getting ~160 HP to the wheels (so you figure ~200 HP at the flywheel). So I'm thinking the FE block isn't such a delicate thing after all. It does seem to be made of cast iron though.

But here's where I'm getting hung up. First I must say that I'm going to *try* keeping my power steering, and definitely keeping my AC. That's the reason I'm looking into using the FE block, so that I can keep those where they are right now, and not have to mod anything for those systems. However, the GE head from the swap that I'm looking at buying has the distributor next to the cam gears instead of over on the tranny side. If I keep my FE block, I'm not sure the FE alternator will fit since the GE dist. is hanging off the head kind of in that vicinity. I'm also not sure how to mount the FE alt. since the FE head has the alt. bracket bolted to it.

Anyone have info about these "Frankenstein" kinds of swaps? Is there a certain year or generation of the GE head that people use so that they can keep their FE block and accessories? It's not easy doing a search for this info. Been looking into it for several days now. Thanks...

Also here is a lot of great info about modifying the 4A-GE:

http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm

Muffler recommendations?

So, while driving around Tijuana, where even the good roads are terrible, I bashed my muffler, and now there is a hole in it. Makes a nice throaty sound, but since I need to get my car smogged, I thought I'd better replace or patch the muffler.

But then it occurred to me that perhaps I could get a better muffler in the process.

Can anyone recommend a better, perhaps high flow or high performance muffler? I don't have a high performance header on it, yet, but I will eventually get one of those as well. Perhaps I'll upgrade the entire exhaust piping.
